I was sitting outside the other afternoon and thought I heard what sounded like the bamboo wind chimes clacking together.

It was windy, so windy that we had fire warnings posted.

I looked around my somewhat wild garden and spotted the iris.

These are a native iris that have found a home in my backyard.

I didn’t plant them, they showed up several years ago and have stuck around.

They have spread in neat clumps around the back part of the house.

I have no complaint with them - they require no water, only removing the dead stems in the spring.

A nice plant to have.

Last year’s seed pods on top the stems were the clacking noise with a bit of rattling of the seed left over.
