Do More Of….

One of my do more of is to spend time with my family!

Not sure where I heard this, on a podcast most likely.

This is a positive way of looking at how to achieve goals is to make a list of things you want to do more of this year. Rather than a punishing diet that restricts all kinds of things or forces you to go a gym and do things that give you no joy, do the things that give you joy and pleasure. The things that you want to experience more of!

My list includes eating more veggies. I actually enjoy cooking and eating vegetables, I just get stuck in the same two or three through out the year. Grab that radicchio, chop it and sauté it in with some chard, onion and bacon. See easy peasy!

More of for Lee:

Outdoors: hikes, paddles, bike, ski (though chemo has taken a huge bit out of the first three months of the year for skiing), camp — you get the idea.

Travel: get us out of the house and see the west! Day trips, multi-day trips. Bike the Hiawatha trail in northern Idaho! Maybe bike the closed section of the old Columbia Gorge Highway. Those activities cover two of my do more of! Plan a longer, maybe east coast or European trip.

Art: yes, even me would like to do more art. I have not sketched out and about much since my cancer diagnosis and it’s frustrating. That puts this activity that gives me so much joy firmly on my list.

If you make a Do More Of list, keep it reasonable in that it is easy to overload this list and you won’t do any of it. Sound familiar? I have three main things here. Outdoors, I strive for one a week. If I can squeeze in more I will. Travel and outdoors are easily combined. Art is layer on both of those activities. I always take my sketchbook with me when outside and especially when traveling.
